Hmmmffff....

Surprisingly I can't say anything bad about Brett today.  He worked on his office, he helped me fold the laundry... heck, he even helped tidy up the kitchen after dinner.  I suspect that he is just trying to get on my good side so that I will let him play golf.  Of course they say that suspicions aren't facts, so that leaves me strangely and unexpectedly unable to complain... about anything...at all.  Hmm... not sure how I feel about that.

Anyhoo... enjoy yourself while I go off to find out who I am when I'm not complaining.  In the meantime, here is a photo of some lovely flowers to cheer us all up.

Cricket is the Only Winner

Have I mentioned that Brett works from home?  Not just one day a week but every single day.  He works in his home office, conveniently located near the television and the bathroom.  Brett likes to keep things simple.  He likes to have everything just within reach while he is working so of course he rarely puts anything away... just in case he might need it later.

For legal reasons related to some Australian privacy laws Brett has threatened a number of unpleasant things if I post a photo of his office, but of course I can't let you go off without a visual.  This could be his office.

It isn't, but it could be. Perhaps his office is a bit more like this.

Ok... now I am just taking things a bit too far.  It is more like the first one.  Really.

As much as I love having this black hole in the house, Brett has been placed under a version of house arrest until he can get the office sorted out.  NO GOLF until that office shines like the top of the Chrysler Building!!  He has a golf date scheduled for Wednesday.  Today is Monday.  Monday evening.

Things got off to a good start this morning.  Brett was hard at work by 11AM and continued to work hard for the next 20 minutes or so until I decided to take our daughter out for the afternoon.  After that things went right down hill.  I saw the shadow move onto the couch as I pulled out of the driveway and other than the evidence of a few snacks no fingers were lifted while I was away... except perhaps to turn up the volume on the cricket.

So the countdown is on!  Will Brett make his Wednesday golf date or will he be trapped in his office while his friends enjoy the wind and the sun?  Tune in tomorrow for the continuing saga of Brett and his office.

Hugs and kisses!  Flo

January 2nd - Otherwise Know as the Day the Tree was Vanquished

Clearly shamed into action by the blog post yesterday, Brett decided to get an early start on the yard work.  A hat was located in the hall closet.  Sun block was applied.  Thirty minutes were spent reviewing and assessing important outdoor information on the Weather Channel.  Finally, in the wee hours of the afternoon, operation Yard Work commenced.

Now I am sure that you are all familiar with our closest star, the Sun.  Here it is, glowing brightly for all to see.

Imagine, if you will, that grass and trees can grow on the sun.  Now, imagine that it is your job to mow and trim them and you will have some idea of what it can be like to do yard work in Australia in January.  Naturally any sensible person would wait until the hottest part of the day to work outside.  There is just no point in getting outdoor work done in the cool, early morning hours.  Everyone knows that time is best spent lying on the couch, reading the paper and drinking coffee.

So here Brett is, hard at work in the sweltering heat.  He is finishing up the small tree he started trimming 4 days earlier.  Fortunately he had left the ladder out, so he was saved the extra hassle of getting it out of the garage.

Within the hour he had successfully trimmed that tree and made it back inside to drink lemonade in the air conditioning.  To heck with the towering pile of mulch that has graced our front yard for the past 3 months.  There is always tomorrow to do something with that.

Now for an early afternoon nap!

2011... Year of the Snooze

Well folks... are you all geared up with your New Year's resolutions?  We are here in the land of Brett.  I plan to do a lot less verbal nagging.  After all, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Brett has big plans too... just as soon as he is done with his nap.

And I ask you, who could blame him?  He has had a big day of reading, eating, tv watching and surfing the net.  Whew!!  All of that clicking really takes it out of you.

Hugs and kisses!
Flo

PS - I am sure that you are all too polite to mention the fact that Brett is wearing a Kerry/Edwards t-shirt from the 2004 US Federal Election with his Aussie flag shorts... so I will do it for you.  Go team USA/Australia!

Welcome to the World of Brett!

Welcome to the world of what Brett did today.  My name is not Brett.  Brett is my partner.  Think of Andy Capp, but with less drinking and more sleeping.  Do you remember Andy Capp?  No?  Well, let me refresh your memory.

You can just call me Flo!
