Clearly shamed into action by the blog post yesterday, Brett decided to get an early start on the yard work. A hat was located in the hall closet. Sun block was applied. Thirty minutes were spent reviewing and assessing important outdoor information on the Weather Channel. Finally, in the wee hours of the afternoon, operation Yard Work commenced.
Now I am sure that you are all familiar with our closest star, the Sun. Here it is, glowing brightly for all to see.
Imagine, if you will, that grass and trees can grow on the sun. Now, imagine that it is your job to mow and trim them and you will have some idea of what it can be like to do yard work in Australia in January. Naturally any sensible person would wait until the hottest part of the day to work outside. There is just no point in getting outdoor work done in the cool, early morning hours. Everyone knows that time is best spent lying on the couch, reading the paper and drinking coffee.
So here Brett is, hard at work in the sweltering heat. He is finishing up the small tree he started trimming 4 days earlier. Fortunately he had left the ladder out, so he was saved the extra hassle of getting it out of the garage.
Within the hour he had successfully trimmed that tree and made it back inside to drink lemonade in the air conditioning. To heck with the towering pile of mulch that has graced our front yard for the past 3 months. There is always tomorrow to do something with that.
Now for an early afternoon nap!
Hugs and kisses! Flo
